What the critics say
A Humorous Strauss Curiosity Becomes a Showcase for Te Kanawa. Anthony Tommasini for The New York Times, January 12, 1998

“The baritone Simon Keenlyside, as Olivier, the dapper poet, and the tenor David Kuebler, as Flamand, the impulsive composer, give confident and textually incisive portrayals. Mr. Keenlyside has the more resonant voice, but neither is a match for the booming bass of Jan-Hendrik Rootering, who makes La Roche seem a beefy pro in debate with dilettantes.”
