I was thrilled to see this news today – so well deserved. Congratulations to Simon and Malcolm and thank you so much.
Enjoy the Atlanta recital, Marilyn – please do tell us about it.
Very pleased to learn of this award–it is a deeply moving recording and has not failed to affect everyone to whom I’ve given copies. I enjoy Simon’s operatic work but perhaps more than anything else I admire his recital work (which is how I first encountered him). There are very few singers who are good at both!! Looking forward to hearing him in NYC for The Tempest (with countertenor Iestyn Davies–another well-deserved Gramophone award winner) and Wozzeck!
This makes me even happier (if that is possible) that I have tickets for Simon’s recital in Atlanta, which will include many of the songs from this album! CONGRATULATIONS, Simon!
Congratulations to Simon! What fantastic news! Needless to say “Songs of War” regularly reduces me to tears, but that’s not only because the subject matter is moving, but because Simon sings these songs so wonderfully and with such conviction and integrity and Malcolm Martineau’s piano playing is indeed stupendous.
Congratulations to Simon and Malcolm for winning the award for Solo Vocal! Beautiful recording, wonderful songs and moving interpretation!! Well deserved by both.
Diana.
Many many congratulations Simon! Sublime songs beautifully sung.
Congratulations !!
