A few more reviews of Simon singing Tonio in the current Royal Opera House production of Pagliacci have now been added to the peformance page. Click on photo to read…

From the archives:  We have discovered more information about Simon’s Royal Opera House debut as Silvio in Pagliacci in 1989, when the role of Tonio was sung by Piero Cappuccilli. Simon shared the role of Silvio with Anthony Michaels-Moore – it appears that Simon sang the later performances at Covent Garden, but we do not know exactly which dates. We do now know, however, that he also sang the role of Silvio at a concert performance of Pagliacci with the Royal Opera at Kenwood Lakeside in Hampstead, London, on 23 July 1989, with the same cast. An extract from a review of this concert performance has now been added to the performance page – click here to read. A huge thank you to our friend who tracked down this review for us!
