Bowled over yet again by Simon’s voice and self-effacing charm (and by the magic of Paris).
So much interest and contrast in his and Malcolm’s programme – in particular the Poulenc cycle, ‘Tel Jour, Telle Nuit’ was stunning, the Schubert, as ever a delight and it was wonderful to hear the Sibelius and the English songs again. Amazing that Piggesnie and Sprig of Thyme, in particular, sound just as light and fresh as when Simon sang them in Blythburgh Church in 2002.

And my warm greetings from England to the delightful Parisian lady I chatted to at the artist’s entrance about her experiences many years ago as an au pair, just around the corner from where I live – what a happy coincidence! I hope we will meet again.
